Abstract
นับตั้งแต่อดีตถิ่นฐานดั้งเดิมของชาวภูไทนั้น ได้ตั้งอยู่ที่บริเวณตอนกลางของมณฑลยูนานในประเทศสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีนในปัจจุบัน ต่อมาจึงได้อพยพเข้ามาตั้งถิ่นฐานอยู่ในดินแดนที่เรียกว่า “แคว้นสิบสองจุไท” มีศูนย์กลางตั้งอยู่ในเมืองแถน ซึ่งในปัจจุบันได้กลายเป็นจังหวัดเดี่ยนเบียนของประเทศเวียนนาม ชาวภูไทได้มีวัฒนธรรมเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของตนเอง เช่น การแต่งกาย ภูมิปัญญา วิถีชีวิต และมีความเชื่อเรื่องภูตผีบรรพบุรุษ จึงพากันนับถือผี ต่อมาได้รับฟังคำสอนธรรมะจากพระอาจารย์หลายท่าน จึงพากันเลิกนับถือผี หันมานับถือพระรัตนตรัยเป็นที่พึ่ง คือ พระพุทธ พระธรรม พระสงฆ์ และมีความศรัทธาต่อพระพุทธศาสนาเป็นอย่างยิ่ง ดังนั้น บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อที่จะแสดงให้เห็นเกี่ยวกับคนชาติพันธุ์ที่เป็นชาวภูไท ที่ได้มีศรัทธาในพระพุทธศาสนาแล้วได้สละเรือนออกบวช และปฏิบัติธรรมจนได้บรรลุธรรมเป็นพระอริยสงฆ์แห่งยุคปัจจุบันด้วยความเป็นคนชาติพันธุ์ของเชื้อสายชาวภูไท และมุ่งแสดงให้เห็นเกี่ยวกับความเป็นมาของชาวภูไทในแง่มุมต่าง ๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการอพยพย้ายถิ่นฐาน รูปแบบวิถีชีวิต สภาพความเป็นอยู่ ความเชื่อประเพณี และภูมิปัญญาในด้านต่าง ๆ โดยข้อมูลเหล่านี้ ผู้เขียนได้มาจากการศึกษาค้นคว้าด้วยวิธีการสังเคราะห์ วิเคราะห์เอกสาร และได้รวบรวมข้อมูลจากแหล่งต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง อย่างไรก็ตาม ด้วยสภาพสังคมในยุคปัจจุบันที่เศรษฐกิจ สังคม และวิทยาศาสตร์ก้าวหน้ามากขึ้น ชาวภูไทจำนวนไม่น้อยจึงละทิ้งวิถีชีวิต ความเชื่อ และภูมิปัญญาบางอย่างของตนไปบ้าง
